Where: a mall in Central City

After the Descendants' ad about Coyote Ugly Nights and Tim's subsequent groupchat, the proposed night out has become real. Beware, Central City! For a gaggle of teenagers with various powers, little self control, pocket money, and one (1) semi-cat semi-chaperone is descending upon your mall. Since there's a lot of them and not everyone needs to go to the same places, Tim proposes if they end up splitting, they meet in the food court at a pre-appointed time before heading to a showing of the exciting spy thriller Fission Possible Seven: Part Three.

[will specifically want to go to stuff like comic book stores, gaming shops, etc. he'll happily accompany friends wherever they want to go, and will likely go in on a pizza at the food court. can do starters for individual threads or roll with whatever's thrown at him.]

[Duke is all for comic book stores and gaming shops and may be looking around a bit surreptitiously to see what he can get for Tim. He hasn't forgotten when his birthday is and Duke feels weird not getting him anything. He may not have a lot of money, but he can use some of his funds from his Newbie Stipend as he thinks of it to pay for something right? It's not like he needs a large wardrobe. He's made do with a lot less while on the streets. But it's hard to look like he's not looking with Tim right there...]

Hey...what's all that over there?

[Pointing in some random direction at the gaming shop which just so happens to have a whole display of new gaming equipment. Very high end. Definitely out of Duke's price range unfortunately.]

What dreams are made of, I'm pretty sure?

[One of the sad side effects of being here is not having access to family money, Drake or otherwise. Tim's got some reasonably-priced items that the Guilds footed the bill for, but he didn't think it was worth risking something like high end gaming equipment.]

[Dana looks uncomfortable as Tim approaches the gaming store.]

Ah... think I'll go off on my own for a bit.

[He's not going to force anyone to stick together, though with a group this large, there's probably someone who'd be interested in whatever she's interested in.]

You okay?

Yeah, I just- haven't had good experiences in gaming places.

[Some people might refer to looking after teenagers to be like herding cats, but this one has every intention of attempting to do some herding. Will go anywhere the kids go, and definitely try to mooch food. It's not like people will sell to them directly, so someone needs to buy them some lovely snacks in the food court, or maybe a nice book to enjoy. Can do starters if wanted, or just come at me.]

So, the thing about having a cat-shaped chaperone is that not everyone is okay with having a cat-shaped creature in their place of business. Tim's noticed a security guard paying more attention to them than he's comfortable with, which is why - when he calculates that they're about to be approached, he picks up Sleeper and arranges them around his neck like they're a kind of scarf plushie and whispers to them to not move.

When the security guard does approach as he figured, he prepares his best what do you mean, this is definitely not a real cat face.

Sleeper does a few minor tweaks to play stuffed toy all the better as they go limp and boneless, literally. Who needs bones when you have complete control of your very substance, anyway?

They're kind of curious how this kid will play off their presence, anyway. Although chemokinesis comes with a few extra tricks, like being able to use chemicals to send their thoughts to Tim.

I'll follow your lead.

Well, the chemokinesis is... a surprise, not that he's unused to using telepathy to keep a team together. Tim reaches up and adjusts the way they're fitted around his neck, partly because he felt Sleeper change and partly to sell the idea that they're not real.

"Is there a problem, sir?" he asks innocently when the guard hesitates in front of them, glancing at Sleeper with suspicion.

It would be hard for anyone to tell that the animal on Tim's neck wasn't some toy. As they are adjusted, they move like an inanimate object, completely limp and unreactive.

Once the guard is confused by placated, they send a second thought.

We should probably move to a different store.

[ Even though he suggested the outing, Dick didn't do a lot in the way of planning. He's still new to Central, so he doesn't know where all the cool kids hang out. He tends to hang back. These are Tim's friends, so he's still figuring out where he fits in. ]

At some point, Tim acquired coffee and is sipping it while wandering into a comic book shop with plenty of board and card games and collectibles (including Fantastic-themed items, but Tim won't hold it against them. mostly). He absently keeps an eye on the group with them as he looks at a comic book adaptation of Arthur Doyle's famous detective series Conan House.

Dick eyes the Fantastic figures and posters with distaste. He's still baffled how someone like that can be so popular. Then again, he comes from an era before Tik Tok so maybe he's just out of the loop.

He follows Tim, sipping on his own guava-flavored boba tea.

"Looking for anything in particular?"

No he's not snooping to see what Tim likes so he can do birthday shopping. Perish the thought.

"Not really? Just seeing what they have."

It is kind of neat, looking around at what another universe produces for comic books. They have a way different culture of superheroes, for starters. "You?"

Dick shrugs. "Just curious if there's anything here I'd recognize from back home."

He takes another sip of his drink.

"It's weird to be in a comic shop and not see Superman merch."

[ Nico’s making a beeline for whatever mallgoth store passes for a Hot Topic in this universe, and he’s willing to cajole the more preppy among them into going along. He’s hyped. ]

I want to start looking for shirts that come this close to being dress code violations for the summer. The Society doesn’t have any good merch.

[ He can be detoured for food, game stores, anything really. ]
